METLOC belongs to a class of beta-blockers.
This drug is used to lower the heart rate and to reduce high blood pressure.
The active ingredient of Metloc, metoprolol tartrate, belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers that works specifically on the heart. Metoprolol has an effect on how the heart works and reduces blood pressure. It works by slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.
Metloc can be used to treat a number of conditions. It can be prescribed to patients:
- to reduce high blood pressure
- with chest pain due to angina
- with fast or irregular heart rhythm
- who have had a heart attack, as protection against a possible further heart attack
- to prevent migraines
Metloc is used in the treatment of chest pain (Angina), heart failure and high blood pressure.
